When I heard we were doing light paintings I was really excited. A long while ago we were supposed to do a photographer project and my photographer was Dean Chamberlain. He is famous for his own light paintings and they really impressed me first time I saw them. They had a certain vibe to them that I really enjoyed. He made one with David Bowie, his teacher, and he does nature too. If I had known we had the opportunity to do light paintings I would have loved to one all the way back then, instead of trying to edit them on Photoshop.
We did the pictures by going into a dark room and turning off the lights. We used finger lights to draw whatever shape we wanted we wanted, but the tricky part was that we didn't know what exactly we were making until we got to look at the camera. The shutter of the camera was opened and then closed after you finish making your shape. There were a lot of interesting ideas that were tried out and they ended up looking really interesting. I tried a couple, but the first one I ever made was my favorite one. I got Sabrina, my model in crime, to be a trooper and lay flat on a chair in a really uncomfortable position while I go around her with the light. After the picture was taken I went into Photoshop to edit the chair out and got rid of some pesky details as well. In the end I think it turned out pretty cool. I wish you could see more of Sabrina, but that doesn't look bad either.
